Christmas Eve and Christmas Day mass in local parishes are still a go.

The Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie has advised that the celebration of Christmas masses will continue as previously planned by each parish, allowing a capacity of 30 per cent.

Starting Dec. 26, there will be new limits for attendees at religious services.

According to a press release issued by the diocese, only 10 people will be permitted in a parish at one time, keeping with the provincial government's COVID-19 lockdown. This includes religious services, rites or ceremonies, weddings, and funeral services and applies to attendees, clergy, support staff and volunteers, both indoors and outdoors.

The new restrictions come into play on Dec. 26 at 12:01 a.m.

The diocese strongly encourages livestreaming masses and attending virtually instead.
