In these difficult COVID-19 times, Sault business Compass Imaging is offering free ‘We Are Open For Takeout’ window signs for the Sault’s small restaurant owners.

But, said Compass Imaging owner Lisa Brechin, speaking to SooToday, such business people will have to call or email quickly in the face of Premier Doug Ford’s newly announced shutdown of all non-essential workplaces, effective 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, March 24.

“We may not be able to do this for long, but we have some off cuts of materials and we thought they’re the perfect size for windows, for takeout restaurants,” Brechin said.

“Just email us or give us a call at 705 946-4248 and we will print it out and you can pick it up outside our front door (at 500 Industrial Park Crescent unit 1).”

All the ‘We Are Open For Takeout’ signs look the same, with red or blue borders.

“All we have to do is change the phone number at the bottom, we just put in their phone number and leave the signs for them to pick up outside so we’re having ‘no contact’ pickup.”

Brechin said she and her staff came up with the idea Monday morning.

“We thought this would be good to do for the little guys around town who are trying to make a go of it.”

“We’re trying to do what we can to help everyone out.”

“Now, if we can just get the federal government to support employers to support their employees with a better wage subsidy that would be great,” Brechin said.
