COVID-19: Here's the situation in the Sault today

Social circles of up to 10 people now permitted in Ontario; latest COVID-19 numbers from Algoma Public Health

On Friday. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that passengers and staff at airports will be subject to mandatory temperature screening. 

The federal government is also extending the military presence in long-term care homes in Ontario and Quebec until June 26, with plans to deploy the Canadian Red Cross to facilities as military support is withdrawn.

In provincial news, Ontario will now allow for social circles of up to 10 people effective immediately. 

Ontario reported 182 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, marking the the first time since March the province has reported fewer than 200 new cases in a day. 

Health minister Christine Elliott says the move - which differs from the province's social gathering guidelines - will enable members of a social circle to have close contact with each other.

The Ontario government says it will lift the 30-day supply limit on prescription drugs on Monday.

The Ministry of Health says the supply of many drugs and medications have stabilized in the province since the limit was imposed in March due to concerns about COVID-19.

In local news, the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is set to open its doors June 24 with reduced hours.

The 'no eviction' order is placing northern Ontario landlords in difficult situations, as some tenants have reportedly been using COVID-19 as excuse for not paying their rent.
