SooToday received the following letter from a very proud parent after her son was honoured with a socially distanced graduation ceremony Tuesday afternoon. Elizabeth Webkamigad extends her heartfelt thanks to the staff and graduation committee of White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School:

Today our son was at the receiving end of a parade, just for him, through our neighbourhood. I was so thankful that I wasn't on any zoom MTGs or Google Hangouts when they approached our street with horns beeping and the 'Graduation song' blaring!

We knew they were coming, we just didn't know when! My son flew through the house, to get to the front door when I let him know they were here!

They brought him a gift, they brought him a sign and they brought him a cap with a 2020 tassel on it!

I got teary eyed and choked up as I listened to them honour my son, they expressed their congratulations and told my son they missed him! How exquisite, to hear those words, in a time like now...our world needs more of this!

The whole time, my son Everett, my ngwissehn was grinning ear to ear! Such pride!

The graduating Class of 2020 will always be remembered for it's resilience, it's tenacity and it's hope.

I want to express my family's extreme gratitude for this kind and generous act. All of the graduating students from White Pines will have this honour, a special personal visit, how spectacular! Well done! What a way to mark their special time!

Chi-miigwech White Pines graduation team!

In friendship,
Elizabeth Webkamigad and family
