A new COVID-19 testing site is scheduled to open in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday at 658 Second Line W. next to the Westend Walk-In Clinic and Westend Pharmasave.

The new testing centre is a collaborative effort with the Westend Walk-In Clinic and the Sault Ste. Marie COVID-19 Assessment Centre. Its hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our goal is to ensure the health of our community by identifying disease early to support public health measures and reducing the number of people presenting to the Emergency Department at Sault Area Hospital,” says Jordan Jack owner/operator of the Westend Pharmasave, in a news release issued today.

"The clinic will be a walk-in testing site to accommodate the large number of patients currently waiting for a test," the release states. "Line-ups will occur, please respect physical distancing practices. Not everyone who attends the clinic will be swabbed."

The new testing centre will offer an online queuing system to provide patients text message updates in the near future.

Anyone with questions should refer to the Algoma Public Health website or Ontario Health. Please do not call the Westend Walk-In Clinic.
