Ontario cases top 7,000, including 86 long-term care facility outbreaks

Ontario is reporting another 401 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province (a six per cent increase) bringing the total number of cases to 7,049. 

The province is also reporting 274 deaths related to COVID-19, which is an increase of 21 deaths from yesterday. 

There are now 86 outbreaks reported at long-term care homes, which is an increase of seven over yesterday’s report. 

There are now 3,121 reported recoveries from the virus, and there are 738 people hospitalized with the virus in Ontario. Of those hospitalized, there are 261 in intensive care units and 196 patients on ventilators. 

Of Ontario’s 7,049 cases, 44.8 per cent are male and 54.6 per cent are female. There are 2,735 cases confirmed in people aged 60 and over and 2,403 cases in people aged 40-59.
