Patients admitted to hospital can now stay better connected to their loved ones outside, thanks to support from HealthHub and Sault Area Hospital Foundation. Starting March 21, all admitted patients have been given free access to their personal bedside screens – which offer TV, phone and internet to stay connected to family and friends who are currently not allowed to visit the hospital.

This is the first of many measures Sault Area Hospital Foundation hopes to take as they help our community through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There have been so many people in our community reaching out to offer support to our hospital,” says Teresa Martone, Sault Area Hospital Foundation Executive Director. “We wanted to channel these incredible offers of generosity into the things our hospital will need during this crisis – caring for our front-line healthcare workers, comfort items for our admitted patients, and emergency medical supplies.”

The Foundation has set up a page on their website to share their current needs and collect community donations – www.sahfoundation.com/urgent.

“We know there may be tough economic times ahead for many in our community,” said Martone. “This is not a call for support – just a conduit for it. Giving through our Foundation will ensure your generosity reaches people in our hospital who need it most.”
