In a statement issued today by Westend Pharmasave and Walk-In Clinic owner/operator Jordan Jack, it was announced that the the Westend COVID Testing Clinic will be closing as of Feb. 26.

The news comes after it was announced that area long-term care home residents will soon be tested using rapid testing devices.

The Assessment Centre located at 165 Drive In Road will remain open for testing.

Full text of the statement follows:

Our team at the Westend COVID Testing Clinic wish to inform you that we will be closing the clinic on Feb. 26 at 3 p.m.

This comes after receiving good news from the Ministry of Health that visitors to our local nursing homes will be tested upon entry to the nursing homes using rapid testing devices by the end of this month.

We would like to thank all of our patients for trusting us with their care over the past six months. We have very much enjoyed the relationships that we have built with so many of you!

We have consulted with our colleagues at the Assessment Centre on Drive In Road, and they are confident they can manage our community’s need for ongoing testing. Appointments can be made by phone at 705-759-3434 ext. 7152.

After we close, those who receive a test at our clinic but cannot access their results online, can obtain their results at the Westend Walk-in Clinic on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

We hope everyone in our community continues to do their best to stay safe by practicing physical distancing, wearing a mask, and following the advice of Algoma Public Health.

Stay safe!
