Despite the provincial government's recent changes to COVID-19 testing, the Westend Walk-In Clinic is still open for testing without scheduling an appointment, said a news release issued today.

The clinic has, however, added a scheduling app to its website for those who wish to do so. The clinic is also still open for regular appointments.

“There seems to be a little confusion about who qualifies for coming to the clinic” said Jordan Jack, owner of the clinic and neighbouring Pharmasave, in the release. “The simple answer is anyone can visit without an appointment, anytime.”

In the last week, the clinic has gone from testing over 300 people a day to around 100, reducing wait times to approximately five minutes or less.

“As the second wave gathers strength this clinic will become more important in identifying active COVID-19 cases in our community.” Mr. Jack added. “We’re urging anyone that thinks they may have contracted COVID-19 be tested to limit the community spread of this virus and protect our most vulnerable.”

In addition to testing for COVID 19 in people who are experiencing symptoms, the clinic can also test people who are not expressing symptoms, but need a negative test for work, are caring for vulnerable family members, or prior to surgery.

The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but will be closed on Thanksgiving Monday.
