In a notice sent out to members today, the YMCA of Sault Ste. Marie reports that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the YMCA, the individual in question is currently isolating at home, following public health directives.

"Anyone who may have come into direct contact with the individual and who may be at risk of exposure has been notified by [Algoma Public Health] regarding testing," the notice reads. "There has been no close contact with members in this case."

"Following an extensive assessment, [Algoma Public Health] has confirmed that our health and fitness programs and facilities are safe to remain open," it continues. "The source of the exposure is not from the YMCA and as a result, there is no risk to our health and fitness members."

Anyone with questions or concerns is urged to contact the YMCA membership services team at info@ssmymca.ca.
