Trying to find employment is never easy, especially with the added stress of COVID-19.
Something that may help job seekers is Sault College’s first ever virtual job fair.
Partnering with Employment Solutions, Sault College will host this online event on Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 12:30-3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 12:30-3:30 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 25 from 12:30-3:15 p.m. via the communication platform Microsoft Teams.
The job fair will feature more than 30 employers, and is open to all. Participants will have the chance to network with local employers to learn more about their business and available job opportunities, a news release issued by Sault College stated.
As an added bonus, eligible participants will be entered into a draw to win one of two Amazon Fire tablets. You must pre-register to be eligible.
“Although this year’s job fair is taking place in a different format, it will ensure safety while providing participants with a unique opportunity to meet with employers to get valuable advice and insight into the job market,” said Ray Corcoran, student employment coordinator at Sault College. “We encourage those interested to register today and take advantage of this exciting event.”
A list of employers who will be in attendance can be viewed by visiting the event’s website. Each employer will have a designated day and time for their individual session and participants can choose which sessions they would like to join at the time of registration. Once registered, a Microsoft Teams link will be sent the morning of the session, allowing participants to join at the scheduled time.

Despite the province slowly reopening and the Algoma region entering the Yellow zone, Saultites are still encouraged to continue following COVID-19 guidelines and stay home as much as possible. Many of us are staying inside and online now more than ever.
So each week, SooToday will share some of the virtual events taking place to help you make the most of these unprecedented times, and have fun safely at home.
If you or someone you know is planning a local virtual event (concert, class, celebration, etc.), send the details to news@sootoday.com.
