NEWS RELEASE

MUSIC AND FILM IN MOTION

************************
Music and Film in Motion is pleased to present this year's Canadian Songwriter Challenge. The co-writing and demo recording adventure will take place on the beautiful shores of Sudbury's Ramsey Lake, July 7-9.

Ten lucky northern Ontario-based participants have been chosen to take part in the free event where they will be paired up, and, with the help of mentors Jonathan Byrd and Rae Spoon, be challenged to write and record a brand new song in the span of the festival's three days. The whole weekend wraps up with a demo listening party aboard the famed William Ramsey boat cruise.

Participants are paired up with other northern songwriters they have never worked with and are faced with the challenge of writing a brand new song. Plus, they’ll be recording the new tune on site at the festival. The songwriting teams will then be performing their brand new track on the live workshop stage in front of a live NLFB audience on Sunday, July 9 at 1 p.m.!

This year's participants are Jayden Daoust, Lisa Marie, Ryan McIntosh, Nicholas Cangiano, Emma McDaniel, Oli Palkovits, Stephanie Gagnon, Tanner Reinhardt, Thea May and Michael McCleary. Read up and listen to the recorded tunes from previous year’s Canadian Songwriter Challenge here.  http://cionorth.ca/en/music/canadian-songwriter-challenge/

The Canadian Songwriter Challenge is proudly sponsored by the Canadian Council for Music Industry Associations (CCMIA) and Bell Media. We also acknowledge the financial support of FACTOR, the Government of Canada and of Canada’s private radio broadcasters. Nous reconnaissons l’appui financier de FACTOR, du gouvernement du Canada, et des radiodiffuseurs privés du Canada.
