Ray Fox, the artist in residence at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum, opens his new exhibition, Baawitigong, this Saturday from 6-9 p.m.

The show is called an "exploration on Anishinaabe history and personal identity," according to a news release.

Fox is the second artist in residence through the museum's newly developed program sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council - Artists and Presenters Grant. The aim of the residency program is to blend the arts with culture and history highlighting the diversity of collections within the museum and how they can inspire and guide the process of artistic creation, the release stated.

The museum is aiming to have artists of various backgrounds, diversity, representation, and experience to bring the collections into a new light. Each artist is free to engage with the collections and archives in their own way making each residency unique and related to the brought experience of the artist. Fox's artwork will be up until the end of February 2023.

Admission is by donation. Snacks and refreshments will be available.

There is free parking in the museum’s back parking lot and also nearby in the Albert/Brock Street parking lot.
