The inspiration for the hit movie The Blues Brothers is making a stop in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Downchild Blues Band is currently on the road for their Longest 50th Anniversary Tour Ever tour and will be stopping in Sault Ste. Marie on Nov. 11 to play at the Sault Community Theatre Centre.

The show will be the second last show on tour for the band, which inspired The Blues Brothers, starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd.

A pair of Downchild songs – I Got Everything I Need (Almost) and Shotgun Blues – are found on the Blues Brothers album Briefcase Full of Blues.

Downchild member Donnie Walsh, who is originally from northern Ontario, was recently inducted into the North Bay Musician and Entertainers Hall of Recognition and is a member of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Downchild recently released its 50th Anniversary Live at the Toronto Jazz Festival DVD, which features appearances by Aykroyd, Paul Shaffer, David Wilcox, Kenny Neal, Gene Taylor, and Erja Lyytinen.
