SAULT AREA ARTS COUNCIL

*************************
The 44th Annual Sault Summer Arts Festival will be held Tuesday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the Sault Ste. Marie City Hall, overlooking the Sault’s Historic Walkway and the St. Marys River.

The juried show is open to original art and craft work in all mediums, as long is it is displayed by the artist who created it. Food vendors are welcome as well.

Jury is by digital image or photographs; Sault area residents may bring items to Alberta House Arts Center to be juried, if they prefer.

Three images in each category except jewelry are required; jewelers must submit five images. Ineligible items are any based on commercial patterns, molds or kits or displayed by an artist’s agent rather than by the artist himself. The jury deadline is June 1, 2016.

Exhibitor spaces are 10’ x 10’ feet and arranged in pods of four so each space has two open sides. Double spaces are also available. The space fee is $100 for a single; $200 for a double (10 x 20’). Sault Area Arts Council members of a year or more pay half that.

Awards include the $300 Olive Craig Best of Show Award, the $150 Painting Award, the $150 Best of Crafts Award, the $75 Judge’s Choice Award and $50 Awards in Design, Jewelry, Fiber, Wood, Pottery, Glass, Graphics, Photography and Display.

The festival includes live entertainment as well, which begins around noon and continues throughout. Included will be a performance by the Starlifters, a pop music band that is part of the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America.

Admission to the festival is free to the public.

The annual Sault Summer Arts Festival is produced as a public service by the Sault Area Arts Council, based in Alberta House Arts Center in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
