Full text of a news release issued by the Downtown Association follows:

On Friday, Sept. 29 from 3 to 7 p.m., the Downtown Association and Northern Superior Brewing Company will be closing Queen Street from Bruce to Dennis for our annual Soo Greyhound Home Opener Street party presented by OLG! With fresh local craft beer and Crafty Elk drinks from Northern Superior Brewery, food from Beavertails, Angry Joe’s BBQ and others, we will be creating the winning atmosphere on the outside of the GFL Memorial Gardens for our own Soo Greyhounds to battle for their first two points of the season during their game against the Flint Firebirds.

Climb N Fun will be on site helping our fans to make wax hands resembling the 'Too Sweet' hand sign that many of our fans use to encourage our team, OLG will be on site with their Volkswagen Van and brand ambassadors with giveaways, and the Wyld Stallyns will be on the Village Media rooftop playing all of your favourite upbeat tunes that everyone in your family will enjoy. There will be face painting, street games, balloon animals and more! Everyone is welcome to take in the festivities whether you’ll be headed into the game for the 7:07 p.m. start or not.

Special thanks to our sponsors: OLG, GFL Environmental, Liz Willson Realtor, Climb N Fun, and SooToday for their support in our community to ensure that events like this come to life! We are inviting Sault Ste. Marie to come downtown and enjoy the festivities while we set the stage for our home team, the Soo Greyhounds, to have a successful OHL Season! GO HOUNDS GO!
