A gala end of the summer vocal concert  at the Machine Shop is planned with outstanding guest artists.

The same artists will also hold a week long Vocal Day Camp for children and adults at the Algoma Conservatory.

The concert is Monday, August 29 beginning at 7:30 pm.

Tickets can be reserved by simply calling the Conservatory at 705-253-4373 ext. 6400 (leave a message) or emailing at algomaconservatory@algomau.ca

Tickets are Adults $25 and Students $10.

The coordinator of both events is Algoma Conservatory vocal instructor, Sarah Gartshore.

This outstanding soprano has recently relocated back to Sault Ste. Marie after an active performance career based in Chicago.

She is collaborating with two outstanding colleagues from the U.S., Jonathan Beyer - baritone and Amanda Crider – mezzo soprano.

Both have had impressive performance careers, appearing with major opera companies across the U.S., including the Metropolitan Opera.

The concert will feature solos, duos and trios and a wide variety of music including some of the greatest opera arias.

It will be an informal, end of the summer concert at the Machine Shop and a great place to cool off.

The cash bar will be open and it is now air conditioned.

The new adjoining restaurant is also open The Mill – Steakhouse & Wine Bar and it is possible to reserve for dinner prior to the concert.

The excellent natural acoustic of the Machine Shop is perfect to augment the power and warmth of these three voices as well as the piano accompaniment on the new Yamaha concert grand piano.

The same artists will stay the remainder of the week to hold a five-day summer vocal camp at the Algoma Conservatory.

This gives young students and adults the opportunity to work with these outstanding professional singers.

The camp is held Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The full cost is $250.

Now in its second year, the camp is for students aged 7 to 19 and it also has an adult section.

The days will include vocal technique, acting, staging, movement, opera and musical theatre, culminating in a performance the final afternoon.

All vocal students are welcome as are vocalists that have not had any formal training.

To register call or email the Algoma Conservatory of Music.
