GALLERY: Grand Parade supporters raise $63K for Finnish Resthome

Funds will go towards purchasing new dining room chairs and common area furniture in the central area long-term care home

The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association and Foundation hosted its annual Grand Parade on Saturday — a Canada-wide event that raises money to support the local facility.

Nearly 100 participants across nine teams enjoyed warm conditions as they walked and wheeled around the property this morning.

More than $63,000 was raised by the time the walk kicked off at 11 a.m. The money will go towards new dining rooms chairs and common area furniture in the long-term care home, Mauno Kaihla Koti.

Several of the Finnish Resthome residents sat outside and waved to teams as they passed by while walking the 2.5 km and 5 km treks.

Volunteers were also available at several pit stops along the way to provide water, snacks, and other refreshments.
