GALLERY: It takes guts to walk in this charity event

Raising nearly $15K so far, the Sault’s 2nd annual Gutsy Walk brought dozens to Machine Shop in support of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada on Sunday

Residents impacted by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis joined one another at the Machine Shop this morning for Sault Ste. Marie’s second annual Gutsy Walk.

Hosted in more than 60 communities across the country, the walk raises awareness and funds for the 300,000 Canadians who suffer with bowel disease.

Sunday’s participating teams enjoyed a 4-km walk in the Canal District and along the boardwalk before returning to the Machine Shop for food, refreshments, and activities.

Event chair Rob Trembinski, a local real estate agent who had his entire colon removed when he was just 16 years old, cut the ribbon on today’s proceedings before leading the walk around town.

As of Sunday afternoon, attendees raised nearly $15,000 for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada this year, a national charity which aims to improve the quality of life for everyone affected by the disease.
