GALLERY: Kids reel in some fun at Kinsmen Park

Hosted by the Algoma Fish and Game Club, the 4th annual Fall Kids Fishing Day provided free activities for young anglers and archery enthusiasts

The Kinsmen Park Pond is a busy spot this afternoon as dozens of young families are enjoying this year’s Fall Kids Fishing Day.

Hosted by the Algoma Fish and Game Club, the day includes an introduction to fishing for kids as well as an introduction to fish cleaning, catch and release or keeping fish.

The youngsters could choose to release their catch or take it home for dinner.

Archery was taught by members of the Sault North Archery Club, and Sault Search and Rescue were available to teach compass orientation.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry were also on-site to educate young people about conservation.

All necessary equipment, including fishing rods and bait, were provided to attendees. Food and beverages were also available for purchase.

The fourth annual event runs until 3:30 p.m. Parking will be limited at the pond for accessibility purposes only. Families are asked to park at the top of the hill and enjoy a hike down to the pond.
