It's hard to miss that huge blue tent in the Station Mall parking lot.
The Great Benjamins Circus is back in Sault Ste. Marie for another action-packed weekend that promises plenty of thrills, laughs and gasps.
Taking place inside the big blue tent from Thursday to Sunday, the circus will feature 12 talented cast members from across the globe take to the stage for 90-minute performances.
From acrobats and jugglers to aerialists and dancers, circus spokesperson and director of operations Eva Rodriguez says there is guaranteed to be something for everyone.
“It’s not just a circus show, but it’s a bit of everybody from all over the world which is really cool,” she told SooToday. “It’s a really multicultural and diverse cast, and we ask them to bring that to the stage with them.”
Currently in the midst of their northern Ontario swing, the Texas-based circus has been travelling all over Canada and the U.S. since they were established by brothers John and Jairo Davenport in 2016.
Rodriguez, an experienced aerialist and dancer herself, has a particular appreciation for the Sault as she always enjoys coming back to the north to perform for local families.
“It’s just a beautiful town,” she said. “We love that it’s on the water, and the drive here is gorgeous. It’s just so pretty here.”
“And we love what we do,” she added. “When we see that positivity being received by the audience – having fun, smiling – it just feels so good. It’s so worth it and it’s the best feeling.”
The Great Benjamins Circus has scheduled shows running every day between May 23-26. The big tent can hold upwards of 700 people.
Tickets are available online and at the door.
