GALLERY: Young truck lovers were in their element today

Hosted by Habitat for Humanity, 3rd annual Touch a Truck event featured more than 30 utility and emergency vehicles at the Cambrian Mall parking lot on Saturday

A few raindrops weren't going to dampen the spirits of the hundreds who attended Habitat for Humanity's third annual Touch a Truck event today.

More than 30 trucks from a number of services across town filled the Cambrian Mall parking lot, inviting kids to explore the vehicles, sit in the drivers seats, and of course — honk the horns.

From cement mixers, dump trucks and cranes to police cars, ambulances and fire trucks, there was practically guaranteed to be something for every young truck lover.

The event also included face painting, character mascots, and vendors.

Touch a Truck was run by staff and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie, as well as the event sponsor, SalDan.

Registration was by donation. All proceeds will go towards Habitat's Affordable Homeownership Program, which provides opportunities for working families and individuals to purchase their own home.
