Celebrate the official start of spring with the Mill Market (35 Canal Dr.) and their Maple Madness event on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Over 30 vendors will be displaying maple themed treats.

“It’s the beginning of maple syrup season in the Algoma region, so it's a special time,” said Denise Martel, board vice-chair and chair of the marketing committee at the Mill Market. “We produce more maple syrup in the Algoma area than anywhere else in the province.”

Mountain Maple Products will be making maple sugar candies that people can taste test, and Hogan’s Homestead will be featuring a new product called Sap Suckers, a plant-based sparkling maple tree water.

“We're very excited,” Martel said. “There is so much to explore and this is the first time in two years that we can open up and feel comfortable with it.”

Some of the participating vendors include Sweet Change, Pastry by Roberta, Cornucopia Gourmet Popcorn Co., Cravings by Paula and more.

“Bakers will have all kinds of interesting things made with maple syrup, like maple apple pie, maple muffins, maple butter tarts, maple popcorn, and maple breakfast sausage. We will also have Reubaras grilling bison burgers with maple bourbon sauce,” Martel said.

Even the non-food vendors will have maple themed products like maple bacon candles and maple lip gloss.

“Maple syrup is a favourite in our area. We hope everyone comes out and has fun, and supports local at the same time,” Martel said.
