FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Greyhound Canada and Up Here Magazine to sponsor Canadian book tour
On November 3rd, former Sault Ste. Marie children's book author Anita Daher, now based in Winnipeg, will begin the northern Ontario leg of a two-month book tour, promoting her most recent juvenile novel, Flight from Bear Canyon. This book tour is unusual in that private companies are sponsoring it.
Greyhound Canada, and Up Here magazine, when asked by the author for support, both readily agreed. Liz Crompton, editor of Up Here magazine, based in Yellowknife, NT, said her company was pleased to help with the tour in support of literacy, and "especially the relevance to Northern kids; this story is set their backyard."
The author was overwhelmed. "This sort of support by private companies is very uncommon."
Flight from Bear Canyon is the exciting sequel to Daher's first book, Flight from Big Tangle, an aviation themed adventure book nominated for a Saskatchewan Diamond Willow reader's choice award. Set in the mighty and mysterious Nahanni River Valley region of the Northwest Territories, the main character, Kaylee, must take to the air again in order to rescue friend and neighbour, Jack, who is injured when his helicopter crashes near a group of grizzly bears.
Over November and December Daher will be visiting libraries, schools and books stores, connecting with as many children as she can, sharing her new book, and her love of reading. Grateful for sponsorship, she has waved her usual author presentation fee.
Communities she will be presenting and signing in include: Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Thunder Bay, ON, Winnipeg, MB, Thompson, MB, Regina, SK, Saskatoon, SK, Edmonton, AB
and Yellowknife, NT.
Daher will be presenting Thunder Bay November 3rd, and Sault Ste. Marie November 5th and 6th. She will travel west and north to the Northwest Territories at the end of
the month. For details visit http://www.anitadaher.com/news.htm
