February workshop with Ellen Van Laar

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - Stories of Place, an exhibition by Ellen Van Laar, will open in Alberta House Arts Center (in Sault Michigan) on Tuesday, February 2, filling both galleries. 

Registration is now open for a workshop, Our Stories—Twelve Archetypes, that Ellen is offering in conjunction with this exhibition. 

She writes that “personal stories, art, myth, religion, movies, books—all depict dramas, feelings and common experiences. We will discuss our lives related to these images/archetypes”. 

The workshop is comprised of three, two-hour sessions, held on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., February 9, 16 and 23, in Alberta House. 

The workshop fee is $45.

The final registration opportunity is at the meet-the-artist reception in Alberta House on Sunday, February 7, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Alberta House Arts Center is located at 217 Ferris Street in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, just off Portage, south of the Soo Locks. 

Regular hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. February through December 24.  

Admission is free of charge.

Stories of Place will be on view February 2 to 27. 

The exhibit, which will fill both Alberta House galleries, will include four, eight by four foot murals illustrating the phases of our lives as well as fifty, five by seven inch paintings of the Algoma Highlands area.
