Canadian folk-rock stalwarts Rueben deGroot and Colleen Brown are packing up the RV with their respective new albums to co-headline their ‘On A Western Swing' tour this November.

Joining them on this musical sojourn is their road tested three-piece band, including members of Oh Susanna, Rocket Surgery, and Luther Wright & The Wrongs.

The tour will showcase songs from each of their new releases- as well as some older gems - and will no doubt oscillate between raucous interactions and more intimate improvisations. Expect to be moved, to dance, to laugh (or heckle) and raise a glass.

Tour dates:

Colleen Brown and Rueben deGroot with Rocket Surgery (band):

  • Nov. 20 - Meota SK, House Concert
  • Nov. 21 - Roblin MB, Roots At Rusty’s
  • Nov. 22 - Winnipeg MB, WECC with special guest Slow Leaves
  • Nov. 24 - Richard’s Landing ON, Town Hall, ‘Just Passing Through’ Series
  • Nov. 25 - Toronto ON, Burdock

Rueben deGroot is currently touring in support of his band’s most recent album Rocket Surgery: Live at The Toucan. The album was commissioned in 2015 by Rueben’s wife Asia, and secretly recorded without the band’s knowledge over the course of eight Monday night shows during their house gig at The Toucan in Kingston, Ontario.

The result is their debut live cd that captures the energetic and engaging live show. The album features songs from Rueben’s previous three albums as well as songs from the band’s forthcoming 2017 album, “Dark Place, Ontario”. ruebendegroot.com

Colleen Brown tears at our hearts as she does her own. With versatile songs and a voice akin to Joni Mitchell, she is relentlessly unafraid.

Having won over audiences opening for Randy Newman, Jim Cuddy, Whitehorse, Frank Black, Buck 65 and Hawksley Workman, her 4th album ‘Direction’ - co-produced by Joel Plaskett - saw Brown topping Canadian college radio charts, achieving rotation on CBC, and touring Germany and the UK.

Kerry Doole of exclaim.ca says 'she is the rare vocalist that impresses equally on vibrant soul and quiet folk...travelling in Brown's Direction is one very pleasing trek.'

Colleen's new EP ‘Seasons Are Circling' capitalizes on her collaborative musical friendships and features a roster of guests including Winnipeg's Slow Leaves, Ontario's David Celia, and Edmonton-based artists Jesse and the Dandelions, Scenic Route To Alaska, Ido van der Laan and Mitchmatic. colleenbrownmusic.com
