NEWS RELEASE

MY FATHER’S SON

**************************
My Father’s Son are set to release their first full length album, Heart of Wood, this November.

Recorded by Simon Larochette at London Ontario’s hidden gem, Sugar Shack Studios, this live off the floor album stays true to the folk trio’s intimate, yet often explosive live show.

Tour kicks off at The Fromagerie Elgin in Sudbury on Friday, Nov. 11.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, the group releases Heart of Wood in singer-songwriter Mark Kulmala’s home town of Sault Ste. Marie at Loplops with local favourite Jackson Reed opening the night.

The first single, Lightning, is available to stream or purchase on My Father’s Son’s Bandcamp.

About the band

My Father’s Son brings together intricate lyrics and the richness of simplified, acoustic sound.

Singer/songwriter Mark Kulmala is joined by Joelle Westman (Georgian Bay, 2016 Polaris Prize nominee) and Paul Meadows (Uisca Beatha, The Beauties) on the recording of their first full length album Heart of Wood.

Having played in different bands and a variety of genres over the years, this endeavour is a paired down amalgamation of lived experiences, both personal and musical, poetically put into emotionally complex but subdued, reflective songs.

An air of storytelling colours the music with sentimental and wholly relatable verses that communicate widely and are entirely immersive.
