Michael Hennessy 'over the moon and back' to direct next In Your Eyes production

In Your Eyes (IYE) Projects Performance Arts is proud to announce that auditions for Brian Friel’s modern masterpiece, Dancing at Lughnasa, will take place April 30 and May 1 at the Great Lakes Honda dealership on Pim St. (upstairs) from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The production will be directed by Michael Hennessy who has directed five ‘Best Productions’ at the QUONTA Drama Festival, receiving three ‘Outstanding Director Awards’ and earned an ‘Outstanding Director Award’ at the Theatre Ontario Festival in 1979. In 1982, Michael co-founded Family Life Theatre and over the next 34 years has directed approximately 2,000 one-act educational dramas which were presented across Ontario.

“Michael is an amazing director who has set the standard and has contributed to the cultural landscape of Sault Ste. Marie for many years,” Joseph Lauzon continued. “He is not just an incredible director, but is the right director for this project.”

“When asked if I would like to direct Dancing at Lughnasa, I went over the moon and back. This is one of the great plays of the 20th century and undoubtedly Brian Friel’s masterpiece,”  Michael contends. “It is a play that offers tremendous challenge in every aspect of theatre which is the hallmark of all great plays. Above all it is an ‘actor’s dream’ and offers all eight cast members the chance of a lifetime. Can’t wait to get started.”
