Art of Michelle Ranta featured in Shouldice Library art gallery

SAULT STE. MARIE, Michigan – The work of local artist and art teacher Michelle Ranta is being featured this month in the Shouldice Library art gallery at Lake Superior State University.

Entitled "New Oil Paintings, Works in Progress," the display contains the new work from Ranta's series of large figurative oil paintings depicting scenes from everyday life.

She has also included educational material in which she explains the process that she uses in preparing and planning her paintings.

The gallery is open during regular library hours, which are Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to midnight; Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. to midnight.

The community is invited to meet Ranta and talk to her about her work during a meet-the-artist reception from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 in the gallery, which is located just off the lobby.
