If you love Christmas music performed live, you’ll be happy to know that the Algoma Festival Choir is busy rehearsing for its first Christmas concert since 2019.

‘We Need a Little Christmas’ will feature festive songs of the season on Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

The concerts start at 7:30 p.m.

A cash bar will be available on both evenings.

Selections include some favourite traditional songs and carols, including “Winter Wonderland,” “Let it Snow,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” the choir said in a news release.

Other pieces include a selection of carols from both John Rutter and Bob Chilcott, including Rutter’s “Angel’s Carol” and Chilcott’s “Mid-winter.”

While tickets are required to attend the show, the choir will also be accepting canned food and non-perishable food items at the door to distribute to local organizations within the community.

The choir welcomes anything that patrons are able to donate, as long as the items are not expired.

(The optional canned food donation does not replace the cost of a concert ticket.)

Concert tickets are $25 plus a $4 box office handling fee each, $10 plus box office fee for children.

Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, or online.

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is at 50 Pim St.

You can follow Algoma Festival Choir on Facebook to stay up to date on choir news and events.
