Pumpkin growing event returns to Bondar Pavillion

New categories are being added this year, with awards for the largest tomato, zucchini, and sunflower now up for grabs at the Oct. 1 event

Everyone's favourite heavyweight pumpkin event returns to the Roberta Bondar Pavillion this fall.

The event takes place on Saturday, Oct. 1.

New categories are being added this year, with awards for the largest tomato, zucchini, and sunflower now up for grabs. Participants are asked to have their vegetables on site by 9 a.m., and pumpkins on site no later than 11 a.m.

The Algoma Famer’s Market will be holding their annual pumpkin weigh off Saturday Oct. 1, 2022 at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion. Enter your potential award winning giant pumpkin for everyone to admire. Please have your pumpkins on site by 11 a.m. The pumpkin weigh-off will begin at noon. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Additional categories will be added this year, largest Tomato, Zucchini and Sunflower. Please have your vegetables at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion by 9 a.m. as judging will begin at 11:30 am, Prizes will also be awarded for each of the three categories.

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will be offering Family Story Time and Crafts from 11 – 11:30 a.m.
