Following is a complete news release:

RICHARDS LANDING - If you haven’t heard Romi Mayes’ music yet, it’s time you do. Hailing from the prairies of Canada, Mayes is one of the hardest working independent musicians touring the globe today.

Mayes has garnered three Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, two Western Canadian Music Awards for Album of The Year, one for Blues Artist of The Year, a Juno nomination for Album of the Year, and various other Canadian Music Award nominations.

Mayes recently released her 7th full-length album, Small Victories, with its Tom Petty-inspired lead single C’mon Baby, which she began writing while waiting out a snowstorm in Batchawana.

Mayes has become a household name in the international music scene, touring Canada, US, Europe, UK over the past two decades and sharing the stage with the likes of Levon Helm, Derek Trucks, Ricky Skaggs, Billy Joe Shaver, Tom Cochrane, John Hiatt, Jim Cuddy, Guy Clark, Sue Foley, and many more.

Mayes and her phenomenal band will once again take her sweet and raspy vocals and fine-tuned edgy songwriting to stages across the globe. They will be at the Old Town Hall in Richards Landing on Wednesday August 21, with tickets available for $20 at Moose Sweats or the Township Office in Richards Landing, or at the door (cash only, doors open at 7:30 p.m., concert at 8 p.m.)

The Township of St. Joseph presents its Just Passing Through Concert Series throughout the year giving touring musicians a place to play and a place to stay in order to bring live music to its beautiful Old Town Hall in Richards Landing on St. Joseph Island. The next in our series will be The Janzen Boys on Aug. 28.
