NEWS RELEASE
ROTARY CLUB OF SAULT STE. MARIE
*************************
Students from the Algoma region will be putting their most scientific foot forward at the 31st Annual Rotary Science Fair Algoma presented by Tenaris on April 12 - 14 at the Algoma University George Leach Centre.
Please join us by visiting the exhibit area on Friday, April 13 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony. See a wide variety of projects from “Baking With Different Sugars” to “The Affect Of Cell Phone Usage On Reaction Time”. Find out how road salts affect the growth of plants, how dairy consumption affects quality of sleep, which materials absorb the most noise, and whether time really flies when you’re having fun!
Students will compete for top prizes and an opportunity to represent their school and the Algoma region as a part of Youth Science Ontario at the Canada Wide Science Fair in Ottawa from May 12 - 19, where they will compete with students from across the country.
We would like to thank our title sponsor, Tenaris, and our other sponsors, Algoma University and the George Leach Centre, Algoma, Youth Science Ontario, University of Ottawa, Professional Engineers Ontario, Algoma District School Board, Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, Sault College, USW 2724, Superior Digital Solutions, Stone’s Office Plus, Green For Life, Conseil Scolaire Catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, P&M Technologies, All Star Trophies, Entomica, and Sault Naturalist.
This event is also made possible because of the support of many volunteers, teachers, judges, committee members and the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie.
For 100 years, the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie has fostered service, leadership, and good works in our community. Founded in 1918, we invest in the Sault’s youth through Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary Science Fair Algoma, Rotary Sports Awards Dinner, scholarships, local projects such as the Rotary Adventure Playground, and partnerships with Easter Seals Ontario and THRIVE. It is only because of dedicated Rotarians, tireless volunteers, and our extremely generous community that the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie has had the privilege to give back millions of dollars and touch countless lives. Thank you for being part of our first 100 years of service.
For any questions, feel free to contact this year’s co-chairs Paul Walz (paulwalz1@gmail.com) and Dante Carlascio (dantecarlascio@gmail.com)
