Sault Ste. Marie had representation Saturday evening in Calgary as Fortunate Ones performed Wherever You Go on the JUNO stage.

During the non-broadcast JUNO Gala Dinner and Awards presentation, the Sault’s dearly departed Mike Case was included in the In Memoriam film segment.

A gifted and dedicated musician and educator, Case passed away on April 12, 2015 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

To celebrate his life and his art, the local music community came together at the Delta Hotel on Friday, April 17.

In June 2015, Susan and George Koprash donated the stage located at The Chippewa Trading Post, naming it the Mike Case Memorial Stage.

Tributes to Case continue with the announcement earlier this year of the inaugural Mike Case Country Music Festival.

The festival is scheduled for June 25 and 26, 2016 at the Laird Fairgrounds with performances from White Stallion, Asylum Country, MC Angels, Lil and Marty Siltanen, Jeff McNeice, Lorrie Lynn, Don Discher and Lyn Mazzonello, The Dave Anich Band and more.
