After a successful fall and winter season of theatre and charity work, Shot in the Dark is back with a new event that’s the perfect antidote to those winter blues: a special Trivia Night fundraiser.

Moving forward with founder Sue Barber’s vision of connecting with local charities and causes, Shot in the Dark will be partnering with Tracy’s Dream to support their vision of affordable hospital parking for cancer patients by hosting an evening of fun, friends and trivia at The Tech.

Tickets are $10 per person or $35 for a team of four people. Book your spot early by calling (705) 542-2194 and asking for Cori.

The event begins at 8 p.m. at The Tech (second floor banquet room) on Friday, Mar. 24.

Hosting the event will be the cast of the upcoming musical Young Frankenstein. Busy with rehearsals for the upcoming Mel Brooks comedy, they will take a break from their usual schedule to run this event. “It’s a great evening of bonding for the cast,” says Cori Murdock, stage manager with the group. “And it’s a chance to honour what Sue taught us about giving back. Theatre shouldn’t be closed off, it’s important to connect with your supporters, with the families theatre creates.”

A similar event, hosted in the fall by the cast of Noises Off, was sold out and an enormous success when Shot in the Dark and ARCH teamed up for an evening of trivia and fundraising, also held at Loplops.

There will be an open bar, and snacks and other beverages will also be available.

The upcoming Trivia Night is the second event like it this year hosted by Shot in the Dark. In January, they teamed up with the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library for a series of fundraisers for the library’s English-as-a-Second-Language collection. Two events were held for children and teenagers and a separate adults-only Naughty Spelling Bee was held as well.

Shot in the Dark has produced two comedies this season (Noises Off and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and is looking forward to its final performance of the year this April with Young Frankenstein. The show runs Apr. 19 to 22 at The Tech and more information is available at www.shotinthedarkssm.com.
