Underground Drawing and Jazz at Loplops Tonight

For those with a hankering for a weekend of underground jazz, blues and life-drawing, there is absolutely, most positively no other place to be than Loplops Lounge.

Starting on Friday, October 8th at 5:00 pm, Loplops Lounge is presenting the Northern Jazz Ensemble as part of its its "after-work" music series. There are few places in town that offer live entertainment before the sun goes down. The after-work series provides the best in jazz for those with an aversion to late night outings.

For those who prefer their jazz after the sunset, Frank Deresti (of the Granola People fame) will be teaming up with percussionist extraordinaire (and all around nice guy) Cliffe Alloy, to provide more jazz themes, also on Friday, October 8th, but not starting until after 9:30 pm.

On Saturday, October 9th at 9:30 pm, local chanteuse/ songwriter, Catherine Taddo will be performing her brand of blues inspired folk accompanied by the multi-talented Lindsay Pugh on guitar and dobro.

Until the end of the month, the Loplops Gallery will be featuring The Underground Group Figure and Life-Drawing exhibit. This particular group was formed in 1998 by local artists who had met in the basement of the Cornwall building. Sound suspicious? You will have to check out the gallery to see exactly what these artists have been up to.

Loplops will be their second showcase together and will include drawings and paintings from the group's Life Study sessions. The show will examine how different artists see, approach, and interpret the human form and runs until the end of the month.
