Understanding and respect: Are you ready for the Multiculturalism Day Festival?

The Sault Community Career Centre is holding a day to celebrate multiculturalism in Sault Ste. Marie.

"Multiculturalism Day, observed on June 27, is an occasion to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that strengthens and enriches Canadian society. It is a time to honour the many cultural communities that contribute to the nation’s vibrancy and reaffirm our collective commitment to equity, inclusion, and mutual respect," said a news release.

This Multiculturalism Day Festival is a free, family-friendly event for all. Attendees will enjoy a range of activities and entertainment, including:

• Multicultural fashion parade
• Activities for children
• Face painting
• Henna tattoos
• Music and live performances
• Pizza and more

"We are very excited to bring the community together for this special event," said Saira Anjum, manager of settlement services at Sault Community Career Centre. "It's a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate Sault Ste. Marie’s cultural diversity and promote understanding and respect among all community members."

"We also welcome anyone who would like to participate in our multicultural fashion parade by wearing their home country’s traditional dress to join us," the release added. "If you would like to participate, please complete the appropriate registration form questions."

Due to construction, Lake Street access to Belleview Park will be closed on the day of the event. Enter the park from the splash pad or the marina parking lots and walk to the bandshell.
