THURSDAY, SEPT. 8

  • Stories Steeped in Stone presents Rusty McCarthy’s St. Marys River Fantasy at the Heritage Discovery Theatre stage located at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site. Show time is 7 p.m.
  • SoundKing Festival happens at the Machine Shop, 83 Huron St. The event aims to promote and give Afro-Canadian artists a platform to perform and showcase their talents to the world. Doors open at 7 p.m. Click here for tickets.
  • Algoma University’s Visual Art Program will host its first wine and cheese fundraising event, Falling Into Art, featuring a silent art auction, music, wine and appetizers. The event happens from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 9

  • Hosted by the Sault College Indigenous Studies Department, women are welcome to join the first Full Moon Ceremony of the year from 7-9 p.m. Elder in Residence, Barb Nolan, will make tobacco ties in Enji as participants go outside to the sacred fire arbour for the ceremony. Come as you are, or wear your ribbon skirt.
  • A “gallery hop” event will feature the work of the late Indigenous artist John Laford at three downtown locations – The Art Hub At Spring (504 Queen St. E.), The Sault Ste Marie Museum (690 Queen St. E.) and Rolling Pictures (498 Queen St. E.). Tickets for the event are $10 in advance at Stone’s Office Supply, 529 Queen St. E. Tickets are also available at the door.
  • Jeffrey Wright performs at the Echo Bay Elks Lodge, located at 96 Church St. in Echo Bay, from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Sound Check will play Shooters Lounge, 68 Dennis St. starting at 8 p.m.
  • Tianna Legacy performs at the The Pub at the Water Tower Inn from 8 p.m. to midnight.
  • L!ME plays all weekend long at Reggie’s Tavern, 458 Queen St. E., from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Mustang Heart hits the stage at the Esquire Club, 103 Second Line W., at 9:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 10

  • The Algoma Weavers Guild will host a free Kumihimo workshop at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum from 10 a.m. to noon. Kumihimo  is a Japanese braid, that can be used to make cords, laces, bracelets, belts and more. Please register here
  • Sault College Pow Wow - Maamawizidaa begins with the Grand Entry at noon in the Health and Wellness Centre Gym. The feast begins at 5 p.m. and second Grand Entry at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 11

  • Reggie’s Tavern, 458 Queen St. E., hosts a Sunday Matinee Jam from 3 to 7 p.m.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 13

  • The Killer Dwarfs return to Sault Ste. Marie for a performance at SooBlaster, 345 Queen St. E. Doors open at 6 p.m. Show time is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at SooBlaster or online.
