The Sault Ste. Marie Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is seeking submissions and potential performers for MYAC Art, Acoustics and Apps, to be held on May 14, 2022.

MYAC is looking for submissions of visual art and photography by local artists between the ages of 13 and 25, along with potential performers interested in participating in the event. Inquires and submissions can be directed to myac@cityssm.on.ca. The deadline is May 9.

"I want to encourage local youth to get involved in MYAC Art, Acoustics and Apps," said Mayor Christian Provenzano. "Organized by our local youth for our local youth, the event is a result of the tremendous efforts of these young advocates who are working hard to serve our community."

First held in 2016, the annual celebration of local youth returns from a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and will feature local youth artists, musicians, mocktails and appetizers. It will be held on May 14 at Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person (includes appetizers) with a portion of proceeds going to the Twinkie Foundation.

"MYAC is proud to continue the tradition of creating opportunities for local youth and supporting tremendous, community driven organizations such as the Twinkie Foundation,” said Aseel Hashim, chair of MYAC. “The members of MYAC are always looking for ways to create or facilitate opportunities for youth to engage in fun and interesting activities, and we’re confident this event will be a great way for young members of our community to gather and enjoy an afternoon in celebration of talented youth."
