VIDEO: Can you identify this mysterious flying object?

‘I have never seen this before’: Sault resident captured footage of a ‘jellyfish-like’ object floating in the sky while she was in the Canadian Tire parking lot Tuesday night

Theories are running rampant on social media in Sault Ste. Marie after a local woman recorded a peculiar object in the sky Tuesday evening.

Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, Ashley Fraser noticed the dark object floating in the sky while she was in the Canadian Tire parking lot. She instinctively pulled out her phone to capture the sighting.

“It was like a jellyfish when I zoomed in; or a humanoid figure,” she says. “It was long and narrow but had a larger ball-like thing on top. The bottom was more narrow and free-moving.”

Fraser says the object, which appeared to be in the direction of the Gros Cap area, disappeared shortly after she had stopped taking the video.

“It appeared to go into the sky so we could no longer see it,” she says. “I have never seen this before, and there was no sound that myself or my husband could hear.”

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport Development Corporation, as well as Sault Police and Sault Fire, have all confirmed to SooToday that they have not received any calls about the mystery object.

But it has definitely generated plenty of chatter on social media. Do you know what it is? Can you help us put all the rumours to rest? Please reach out at news@sootoday.com.
