Fair will take place online from April 8-10

The Rotary Algoma Science Fair will be virtual this year, the Rotary Club announced in a news release today.

From April 8-10, students from Grades 7 through 12 "will be able to share their interest in science with their peers, local experts, and the community," the release states.

“We are thrilled to be able to finally bring back the science fair after two years where it was not possible,” shared Science Fair Chair, Dr. Dante Carlascio, “Although the virtual platform will be different from the usual in-person fair, this is a unique opportunity for all students with any interest in science to share their discoveries and further their potential. We are very thankful for our Rotarians, sponsors and judges to make this event possible.”

This year’s Rotary Algoma Science Fair presented by Tenaris will take place online from April 8 to April 10, 2022.

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie is available to assist any teachers, parents, or students would like to learn more about this year’s virtual format which allows students from grades 7 through 12 to share their interest in science with their peers, local experts, and the community.

Sara Giroux knows the importance of science fair from experience. “Youth science fairs provide an unparalleled experience in STEM where a student’s natural curiously guides them. My son participated in his school fair, then the Rotary Algoma Science Fair, and moved on to the Canada Wide Science Fair, where he won a Gold Medal. Rotary provides an exceptional environment for students to thrive and supports them throughout the process. As a result, my son gained confidence in his abilities and fine-tuned his presentation skills. Science Fair is an exceptional opportunity for students to engage in active learning and STEM literacy. I cannot recommend this experience enough to develop project management, research and communication skills.”
