The winner of the SAHF 50/50 June draw may be speeding up her retirement plans.
On June 30, Lisa Robert of Sault Ste. Marie won a $71,522.50 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) June 50/50 draw. Her lucky number (J-9676154) was drawn electronically, and she was called immediately.
Lisa’s husband, Sam, picked up the phone first, and let the SAHF team know she was at work at Joe’s No Frills. After calling the store, SAHF got a hold of Lisa on her break.
“All I could say was ‘oh my god, oh my god, oh my god’,” Lisa laughed. While her husband is already retired, Lisa has a few more years of work left — but this prize money may help move that date up a bit, the foundation said in a news release.
Lisa wasn’t the only winner this month: June’s Early Bird, Patricia Noble of Sault Ste. Marie, was the lucky winner of $15,000 on June 14th with ticket J-1770688.
“After three and a half years of monthly 50/50 draws, it’s incredible to see how life-changing this draw can still be,” said Teresa Martone, executive director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation.
“Both for winners like Lisa, who may be able to retire sooner thanks to this win – but also for our hospital, which has been able to bring in new tools through incredible community support of the 50/50. What a great way to give back and have a chance to win, too!”
