The Algoma Ontario Health Team is hosting a cervical screening clinic.

The Algoma Ontario Health Team is hosting a cervical screening clinic on Friday, March 22 at the Group Health Centre’s OB/GYN Department at 773 Great Northern Rd

“Cervical cancer is such a preventative cancer. If changes are caught early enough in the cervix, it is treatable,” said Carol McDowell, a Nurse Practitioner at the health centre, in a news release.

The AOHT says it is committed to offering cervical screening options to those who do not have access to primary care, the release said. To be eligible for this cervical screening clinic, individuals must not have a primary care provider and be between 25 to 70 years of age.

This clinic marks the fifth cervical screening clinic organized by the AOHT and its partners since the fall of 2022. AOHT partner organizations involved in this initiative include the Algoma Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic, Group Health Centre, Algoma Public Health, and the Superior Family Health Team.

The AOHT encourages all eligible individuals to book an appointment by calling 705-759-7465.
