Algoma University and Laurentian University are co-hosting two separate information sessions on campus for prospective students and employers on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
The first session starts at 4:30 p.m., and provides employers with an opportunity to learn more about the Engineering Pathway Program. Beyond program details, employers will be able to network with colleagues and learn about hosting co-op students locally.
The prospective student information session will begin at 7 p.m. Staff from both universities will present detailed information on the pathway program including application procedures, admission requirements, curriculum and the pathway to Laurentian. Students will complete a first year of study at Algoma before transitioning directly into second year in the engineering program at Laurentian.
At Laurentian, students will have the option of specializing in Mechanical, Chemical or Mining engineering. Co-op placements in Sault Ste. Marie have already been secured for students in the program.
"This information session is an excellent opportunity for prospective students to find out about this engineering partnership,” says Brent Krmpotich, Director – Enrolment Management and International. “Both Algoma University and Laurentian will have faculty and staff on hand to explain how the pathway program works and why it is an excellent option for local students.”
Co-op placements in Sault Ste. Marie have already been secured for students in the program. Work term opportunities are available in numerous locations throughout Ontario and beyond. Laurentian University has the highest post-graduation employment rate in Ontario at 95 per cent, ensuring graduates are well-positioned for a successful transition to the workforce in a high demand field.
