Benefit dinner planned to support Rob Hiiemaa, a familiar face on the local racing scene who must remain in southern Ontario for several months for follow-up tests and rehab

A benefit dinner is planned for later this month in support of Aweres Township Fire Chief Rob Hiiemaa, who underwent emergency open heart surgery in Toronto and must remain there for the next several months for follow-up testing and rehab.

A well-known face in local racing circles, Hiiemaa started as a firefighter in 2007, working his way up to captain, deputy and then chief. He also operates Dynatype Motor Sports, a recreational vehicle, automotive, truck and equipment service shop on the corner of Macintyre Rd and Hwy 17 North.

The benefit dinner for Hiiemaa and his family is being held July 16 at the Pee Wee Arena, with doors opening at 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 for all you can eat wings, pizza and fries. Support tickets for the door prize are also available for $20.

For more information or tickets, contact the Aweres Fire Department though its Facebook page.
