A man is facing several charges after Ontario Provincial Police allege he refused to leave a elderly tenant’s Blind River apartment.

Officers were called to Hudson Street just after 1 a.m. Friday.

They say the senior tried to go for help several times but was “pushed back down forcefully in their wheelchair.”

The suspect — who isn’t a resident of the apartment complex — was gone by the time police arrived.

The accused was spotted by police shortly after 1:30 a.m. walking southbound on Woodward Avenue.

Eric Duguay, 39, of Blind River has been charged with forcible confinement, assault and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused is scheduled to appear in an Elliot Lake court on February 1.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Duguay is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
