Boom! July 4th fireworks return to Sault waterfront tonight

After being forced to move the show last year because of construction at the Soo Locks, our sister city's Independence Day fireworks are returning to the St. Marys River tonight

July 4 fireworks are returning to the Sault waterfront tonight after a one-year hiatus.

Last summer, our sister city's Independence Day fireworks show had to be moved to Sanderson Field Airport after the Army Corps of Engineers said the equipment, materials and fuel used for construction at the Soo Locks made that area unsafe.

But in May, the city manager of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan announced that the fireworks display would be returning to the shores of the St. Marys River.

Translation: If you live on the Canadian side, be sure to head back down to the waterfront tonight for the second fireworks show of the week.
