Are you passionate about a career in developmental services, want to have a positive impact on the lives of those with developmental disabilities and are looking for personal and professional satisfaction? Let Sault College help you turn your passions into your profession by registering for the eight-week Developmental Services Support Certificate Program. The program begins May 6, 2019 and tuition is only $500!

This unique program is offered through the Continuing Education department in partnership with Community Living Algoma (CLA). Students who successfully complete the certificate with a minimum G.P.A of 60 percent will also be guaranteed an employment interview with CLA!

Throughout this program, learning will focus on professionalism, health and wellness, building relationships and advocacy for community inclusion, and will help students gain a solid foundation in this field of study preparing them for field placement hours with CLA and ultimately an interview with CLA for qualifying students.

“Sault College is proud to once again work in partnership with CLA to offer this unique program,” said Lori Crosson, director of e-learning and Continuing Education, Sault College. “This particular program ran for the first time in March 2018 and was very successful. Students receive an incredible education in this field of study as well as an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills through a field placement and guaranteed employment interview with CLA for those who qualify. We’re extremely excited to work together with CLA to help our students achieve their educational and employment goals.”

“Community Living Algoma is excited about working with Sault College to continue offering this certificate program in our community. It has been more than 20 years since the DSW program was offered locally and there have been many positive changes in the lives of people with developmental disabilities that CLA wants to share with prospective employees,” said John Policicchio, executive director, Community Living Algoma. “If a student is looking for a career in which they will have opportunities to help others to explore new experiences, build relationships and create connections to community, this certificate could open that door.”
