Cross-Canada runner Ryan Keeping (second from right) will be passing through the Sault on Saturday afternoon. He's raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

One of Canada’s top long-distance runners is on a mission to jog from coast to coast in less than 100 days, and locals can join him for a couple of hours today as he passes through the Sault.

Kicking off day 48 of his 99-day run across the country, Ryan Keeping got back on the highway early this morning in Bruce Mines and is expected to arrive in town before dinner time.

Keeping is running 75 kilometres every day to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He’s already eclipsed $84,000 in donations.

Jonathan Mogg and the Sault Stryders Running Club are inviting residents to "Flip the Switch" and join Keeping on his journey around 4 p.m. at White Pines today.

The group will be looking at accommodating ride sharing options with a potential finish of seven kilometres at the Water Tower Inn or 10.5 kilometres at the Trading Post.

Readers interested in participating today are asked to join the Facebook group for an updated timeline of Keeping’s arrival to the Sault.

“Let's give Ryan a big Sault welcome and show him our city has a big heart!” Mogg wrote.
