Conservation authority issues warning about elusive 'moose on the loose'

'Do not approach this animal. Conservation officers are tracing its movements and location'

Is this moose's goose finally cooked – at least in terms of being a city dweller?

It appears the Sault's elusive moose on the loose has been spotted again in the conservation area in the city's north end, prompting a warning today to not approach the animal.

Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority issued a public notice this afternoon about a "moose on the loose" that was titled, "Be Safe, Don't Approach!"

"Do not approach this animal. Conservation officers are tracing its movements and location," the notice reads.

In March, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said they received several calls from locals about a moose observed in the White Oak Drive area.

Residents were captivated by the moose's presence there for several weeks, as seen in photos sent to SooToday.

The moose was spotted again by a resident in the Fort Creek area in April, who took several pictures.

Crews with the Ministry of Natural Resources have attempted to relocate the moose back to the forest.
